This module allows physicians to practice complete endovascular implantation of an aortic valve bioprosthesis, designed to replace a diseased native aortic heart valve. The module includes a variety of patient anatomies with varying aortic valve annulus sizes, degrees of calcification, left ventricular hypertrophy and heart orientations, on which physicians can practice accurate positioning and deployment of the bioprosthesis. During the procedure a trainee may cause a perforation of the left ventricle by unintentionally pushing a guidewire against a hypertrophied left ventricular wall. The vital signs monitor indicates if the pre-procedural increased pressure gradient was resolved as a result of correct bioprosthesis positioning. The performance metrics presented at the end of the procedure show how the actual bioprosthesis is deployed relative to the desired positioning, as well as other valuable parameters. |
