Training exercises for emergency hemorrhaging situations that require
immediate treatment. This module is particularly vital due to the
unpredictable nature of bleeding situations in the upper GI tract
and the difficulty of training for such incidents.
The 10 varied cases in the module, created in collaboration with
Doctors Sven Adamsen and Soeren Meisner of Bispebjerg Hospital,
Copenhagen, Denmark, enable the performance of:
- Complete surveys of the upper gastrointestinal
tract through emergency endoscopy
- Diagnostic procedures for patients who demonstrate
symptoms of bleeding
- Therapeutic procedures using various accessories
geared for bleeding pathologies
The cases include: bleeding ulcers, bleeding
tumor, Dieulafoy's lesion, Mallory-Weiss tear, spurting artery,
blood oozing from clot edges and protruding submucosal vessels.
The module is equipped with several accessories used in bleeding
situations including: a spray catheter, bipolar coagulation probe,
injection needle and a cold snare.
