Ultrasonography Module (EUS)
The EUS Module is the first and
only application that provides
a platform for hands-on practice and learning of endoscopic ultrasonography
procedures. With this module, the user is maneuvering an authentic
scope to view a realistic ultrasonography presentation created in
real-time. The trainee gains experience in ultrasound images interpretation
and receives immediate objective feedback on his/her performance.
The simulator also provides on-screen visual assistance to provide
an intuitive and realistic simulation like no other.
The
proprietary technology developed for the EUS Module simulation is
unique. It presents an innovative approach that enables the creation
of US images in real-time from 3D anatomical models constructed
from CT and MRI slices.
The EUS Module comprises both educational and didactic tasks modules:
- Educational
Module: provides a high-end learning environment
including a variety of visual aids that appear on-screen at user's
request.
- Tasks
Module: provides a performance evaluation environment
in which the user's capabilities are tested and scored. Visual
aids are disabled in this module to examine the user's knowledge
in true-to-life situations.
Main
Simulation Features:
- More
than 30 EUS tasks, including didactic visual explanations
- Ability
to test user's skills to recognize important US anatomy and landmarks
- Practice
both linear and radial US probes
- Realistic
scope maneuvering
- Haptic
feedback
- Switch
to US view with a click of a button
- Detailed,
realistic anatomy created from CT/MRI
- Split
screen – view US and 3D Map side-by-side
- Zoom,
Pan and Flip options
- Freeze
US image anytime by using simulator's pedal
- Use
"Characters" and "Caliper" over frozen image, as in real US equipment
- Save
up to 50 frozen images per procedure
Visual
Aids During Simulation:
- Use
Labels feature to see instant anatomy identification on US view
- Click
on 3D Map to view a realistic 3D anatomical presentation
- 3D
Map includes an ultrasonography beam that 'slices' anatomy for
better understanding
- Use
Filter option to hide/highlight selected anatomy in 3D Map
- Color
indexed anatomy over the US view for easy interpretation
Performance
Evaluation:
- Review
all saved images
- Indicates
landmarks that were not properly identified by user
- Indicates
anatomy that was not properly identified by user
