The PERC Mentor™ platform includes a stylized mannequin that represents the virtual patient's torso approached from the back. An interchangeable cartridge fitted with life-like layers of epidermis and underlying tissues provide the physical system for percutaneous puncturing. Cartridges are changed to enable practice on normal or obese patients as well as to enable access to the right or left side.

This cost effective design is a simple and convenient means to achieve the goal of a simulator that can accommodate ongoing development and addition of new procedures and a wider variety of virtual patients.
