The Flexible Sigmoidoscopy module
meets the growing need for training in sigmoidoscopy procedures.
Increased awareness of the need for early population screening for
colorectal cancer has made it imperative that endoscopists and trainees
be provided with a means for practicing on a variety of patient
anatomies and pathologies prior to performing an actual procedure.
The cases contained in this module focus specifically on sigmoidoscopy
up to the transverse colon entrance, and have been prepared based
on actual medical data.
The Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Module will help you
to:
- Become familiar with flexible
sigmoidoscopy and the indications for colon cancer screening
- Practice on difficult and
unusual anatomies
- Determine the appropriateness
of sigmoidoscopy procedures in high-risk situations
- Identify pathologies
- Practice on endoscopic biopsy
techniques
- Develop necessary skills in
the use of endoscopy tools
- Make appropriate recommendations
based on your findings
Flexible Sigmoidoscopy training includes:
- 10 Patient cases that each include patient histories
- Examination of the anus, rectum, sigmoid and descending
colon
- Retro in the distal rectum for complete examination
- Identification of a variety of anatomies and pathologies
The cases were created in collaboration with
Dr. Darius Sorbi and
Dr. David Fleischer, Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, AZ, USA.
